What is VtoV?

VtoV, or the Verizon Employee Relief Fund, is our own internal charity. VtoV was created with the goal of providing financial aid for basic necessities (food, clothing, shelter) to our employees who are facing a significant hardship as the result of a natural or personal disaster. The fund was established to help employees who had experienced the loss of their home.

Who funds VtoV?

We do. VtoV is funded by employee donations. Verizon pays the administrative fees related to running the program, so every donation made goes directly to help a fellow employee during their time of need. Better yet, donations made via check, credit card or stock are eligible for the Verizon Foundations Matching Gift Program.

Who can apply for a grant?

Any full or part-time employee facing a financial hardship stemming from the permanent or temporary loss of their home through a natural or personal disaster (fire, flood, tornado, domestic violence incident, etc.).

Why donate now?

VtoV has received donations from thousands of employees but there is still work to do. When the next house fire, natural or personal disaster emergency arises, we want to be sure were ready to help our colleagues in need.

How can I help?

To make a donation to support the Fund, click on the Give icon below. 100% of your donation is tax deductible and will go to help a fellow member of the Verizon family who needs it.

Please note: The deadlines for applications requesting evacuation (hotel, food, clothing) assistance related to Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Michael have passed. Applicants may still apply for long-term recovery assistance for repairs, contents, etc. as a result of the hurricanes. Applications for evacuation will no longer be accepted.

    Who is E4E Relief?
    E4E Relief is a wholly owned subsidiary of Foundation For The Carolinas, a 501(c)(3) public charity (Tax ID 56-6047886). With more than a decade of experience serving clients across the United States, E4E Relief is the nation's leading provider of employee disaster and hardship funds.

    What if I've been impacted by a disaster or by domestic violence?
    The VtoV Fund is not a first responder. In the event of a natural or personal disaster, employees should contact the American Red Cross, National Domestic Violence Hotline or another local support organization for on the ground and/or immediate assistance.

    Within the online application system a specially designed application has been created for employees affected by a natural or personal disaster. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is also available for assistance. EAP is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is provided at no cost to employees.     The National Domestic Violence Hotline can be reached at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or www.thehotline.org. If you have been affected by domestic violence, please contact your Human Resources Business Partner to find out more about available services and assistance.

    What happens to the applications?
    The VtoV Fund is administered by E4E Relief. As a non-Verizon entity, E4E Relief has been designated to manage the grant processing and administrative aspects of the V2V Program. Information provided is held in strict confidence.

    Who makes the final decision on the applications?
    E4E Relief manages the grant processing and administrative aspects of the VtoV Fund on behalf of Verizon. This ensures confidentiality and impartial decision-making. They also have expertise on this subject matter to make sound decisions on qualifying events.

    How long do I have to wait for a decision?
    Decisions are made within 3-5 business days from the time all documentation is received. Expedited turnaround times are in place for those with immediate needs due to a disaster.

    Will everyone know if I apply or if I receive a payment?
    No. A third party, E4E Relief, administers the program and applications are confidential. It is up to you if you would like to share your story about assistance you received from the VtoV Fund.

    If I receive payment from the fund, do I have to pay taxes or pay back the fund?
    No. Grants from the VtoV Fund are non-taxable to the employee. They are provided as an assistance grant and do not neet to be repaid.

    The VtoV Fund is a charitable program; it is not a benefit to Verizon employees. As such, certain charitable income guidelines may apply. To be eligible, applicants must be active employees of Verizon or on an approved leave including short-term disability, FMLA or paid time off. Assistance may only be provided toward expenses that are a result of the event and that were incurred after the applicant's hire date. Applications must be submitted within twelve months of the event's occurrence.

    Eligible events include:
        ?    Qualifying Disasters: Presidentially declared natural disasters such as a disaster resulting from an act of God as in the case of a hurricane, tornado, earthquake or flood or other qualified disaster or a personal disaster such as domestic violence, a house fire, mudslide, etc. that results in significant damage to the employee's primary residence and /or impacts their ability to safely reside there for an extended period of time. Maximum award amount is $5,000. All grant applications must be submitted within twelve months of the event's occurrence.

    Requested assistance for expenses must tie directly to the related event and appropriate documentation is required.

    For employees who do not meet these guidelines but are having financial difficulties, Verizon offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which is available for assistance. Consultation is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is provided at no cost to employees.
